Dr. Carolyn Barth is a native of Kitchener-Waterloo and graduated from the University of Waterloo with her Honours Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees in 2008. She has the distinction of being a member of the “Dean’s Honours List” and having received the Irving Baker Excellence in Clinical Optometry Award for her exemplary clinical skills. She has enhanced these clinical skills through externships in New Zealand and the United States which provided her with advanced training to diagnose and co-manage, with medical teams, conditions such as Glaucoma, Age-Related Macular Degeneration, Diabetes, and Cataracts.
Since graduation, Dr. Barth has provided comprehensive eye exams for residents in nursing homes in Brantford, Paris and London area and is currently the attending optometrist at Forest Heights Long term care residence in Kitchener. She is also a Clinical Supervisor for third and fourth year optometry students at the University of Waterloo School of Optometry.
In her spare time, Dr. Barth volunteers with the Chicopee Track 3 program to teach children with visual, mental and physical impairments the joy of skiing. She also enjoys travelling with her husband Adam, swimming, cycling and performing as a concert cellist.
